Why Ingredients Come First

Mrs Makeup — Ireland's clean beauty finder
The Problem

Most Beauty Content Never Looks at the Label

Thousands of beauty articles are published every day. Product roundups, editor's picks, "best of" lists. Almost none of them look at the ingredient list. They tell you how a foundation performs, how it photographs, how it smells — but not what is actually in it.

That matters, because a significant number of products on the market contain ingredients that are banned or restricted in the EU, linked to hormone disruption, or that accumulate in your body over time. They sit on shelves in Boots and Brown Thomas regardless, because the rules only go so far — and most consumers have no practical way to check.

Mrs Makeup was built to fix that, for the Irish market specifically.

How It Works

Every Product Is Checked Before It Appears Here

Every product in our database has been individually checked against our ingredient standard before it was added. If it passes, it appears in recommendations. If it doesn't, it doesn't appear at all — regardless of how well it's marketed or how popular it is.

The standard covers the ingredients most commonly associated with skin irritation, hormone disruption, and long-term accumulation. Products containing any of them are excluded automatically. Products that contain ingredients that may cause issues for sensitive skin are included but flagged — so you can make an informed choice, or ask the bot for a cleaner alternative.

Every category covered

Foundations, concealers, mascaras, primers, lip products, skincare, haircare, bodycare, fragrance and more — with new products added regularly.

Why It Exists

Built Because the Information Wasn't Available

There was no Irish resource that combined product availability, ingredient transparency, and honest editorial in one place. International databases exist, but they do not reflect Irish stockists, Irish pricing, or the specific brands that actually make it onto Irish shelves.

So we built it. The Mrs Makeup database covers foundations, concealers, mascaras, primers, eyeshadow, brow products, lip products, blush, bronzer, highlighter, BB and CC creams, and tinted moisturisers — with more categories added regularly. Every entry has been checked by hand against its full ingredient list before it goes in.

No sponsored placements. No brand relationships that influence verdicts. If a product fails the standard, it is not here.
